On the telegraph pole in the central road island in Upper Swanmore 2 miles east of Bishop’s Waltham.
On the same 1965 electricity pole in Upper Swanmore as 1971. Some of the original flag’s pins were still there but hidden amidst an accumulation of the staples and nails used by the local community to advertise all manner of village matters over the last forty years.
The triangle of grass and the road junction are much the same but there is a ‘new’ post box and the concrete water main markers have been removed and replaced by enamel signs on the post box and the electricity pole itself.
The clipped hedge to the north has a new gate for a drive up to the apparently enlarged cottage.
